Senior Remedial Building Consultant

Senior Remedial Building Consultant

Purpose:

Provide expert consultation and management for complex remedial building projects. Represent clients by diagnosing building defects, designing practical solutions, and overseeing project delivery with a focus on care, integrity, and quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:


Technical Consulting Services:

· Develop and produce detailed Technical Specifications for remedial projects.

· Conduct building defect audits, including diagnostic investigations of façade and building envelope issues.

· Oversee quality control processes, inspections, and test regimes.

· Coordinate engineering designs and review shop drawings for compliance.

· Administer tender processes and provide Expert Witness services when required.

· Collaborate on bid proposals by contributing technical expertise to align with client needs and company standards.


Project Management & Superintendence:

· Manage projects from initial diagnosis through to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.

· Conduct scheduled and critical stage inspections to monitor progress and compliance.

· Supervise contractors, review materials and products, and ensure adherence to project specifications and safety regulations.

· Act as Superintendent on assigned projects, coordinating and overseeing all aspects of project delivery.


Report Writing & Communication:

· Prepare high-quality, structured technical reports for clients.

· Provide regular project updates, documenting key milestones, deviations, and decisions for accountability and transparency.


Client Relations:

· Serve as the primary point of contact, offering technical advice and regular updates throughout the project lifecycle.

· Lead client meetings, presentations, and site walk-throughs to ensure clarity and alignment.

· Accurately document all client interactions and project details using internal systems.


Team Leadership & Mentoring:

· Mentor and guide team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

· Share technical expertise to support professional development within the team.

· Participate in team discussions to drive continuous improvement and best practices.


Productivity & Budget Management:

· Optimise resource allocation to ensure productivity and avoid time or cost overruns.

· Monitor project performance, address challenges proactively, and submit accurate invoicing on time.


Skills & Experience Required:

· Minimum 5 years’ experience in the facades or remedial building sector.

· Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Construction, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent qualifications and experience relevant to the building industry.)

· Expertise in building principles, façade systems, waterproofing, and remedial techniques.

· Familiarity with the Building Code of Australia and Australian Standards.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Proven ability to manage projects, clients, and technical challenges independently and collaboratively.

· Professional ethics, integrity, and confidentiality

· Exceptional attention to detail and time management.

· Solutions-focused and proactive in resolving issues.

· Strong organisational skills and ability to manage data accurately.

· Ability to build and maintain positive client relationships.
