Remedial Façade Engineer

You will work with our team of Building Consultants, Engineers and Building Surveyors to diagnose building defects, produce detailed reports and design and oversee remedial building projects.

 

Your role and responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting building defect audits
  • Field work including investigations into façade and building envelope defects
  • Façade inspections and testing
  • Glazing system assessments
  • Façade cladding assessments and design
  • Wind load assessments
  • Facade engineering and load analyses
  • Reviewing and approving shop drawings
  • Concrete condition audits including concrete testing and analysis
  • Preparing detailed and structured reports for various client types
  • Designing and producing Technical Specifications for remedial building projects
  • Administering tender processes
  • Project managing remedial building projects
  • Providing Expert Witness services (for some candidates)

 

Minimum requirements for this role:

  • Minimum of 5 years proven experience in the facades or remedial building sector
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Structural / Construction / Mechanical Engineering
  • A great understanding of building principles and design
  • A great understanding of façade systems
  • A great understanding of façade cladding systems
  • A great understanding of weatherproofing, remedial construction techniques and materials
  • A sound understanding of the Building Code of Australia and Australian Standards
  • A-grade English communication skills – written and oral
  • Ability to work independently and also collaboratively within a team
  • Ability to work at heights, on scaffolding etc
  • Must have great professional ethics and operate with integrity
  • Must be motivated and willing to make an impact
  • Must appreciate the confidential nature of some of our work

 

Other Potential Considerations:

  • Rope access qualifications or willingness to be trained in this qualification
  • Proficiency in the application of façade / structural design software
  • Particular experience in fields of façade cladding, glazing and weatherproofing
  • Particular experience in Environmental Sustainable Design (ESD)
  • Experience with structural engineering and failure analysis software
  • Drafting / CAD experience
  • Project Management experience
